Course Overview
This program covers the components of project integration, the differences between a project and product lifecycle, as well as the functions of a project plan. In addition, this course covers the components of a project management information system, how to conduct mid-project evaluations, and how to use stakeholder input while implementing the project plan. Finally, this program teaches students the functions of a change control system, and the steps of configuration management.

Objectives
Unit 1: Understanding Integration 0.5 - 1 hour
• Identify project integration activities.
• Identify the definition of a project interface.
• Identify the ways data is measured and presented during project integration.
• Identify how performance reporting is important to project integration.
• Identify the areas in which project and product life cycles differ.
• Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with Jack Evans, Senior Project Manager at Icon International. You have recently had some problems understanding project integration, and have been studying this area. Jack will ask you some questions to gauge your competence in this area.
Unit 2: Developing a Plan 0.5 - 1 hour
• Identify the goal of project planning.
• Identify the elements of and the inputs to a project plan.
• Identify the documents included in a project plan.
• Identify methods used in project plan development.
• Identify the purposes of organizational policies, a project charter and coordination meetings.
• Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with Anna Strzelecki, Project Manager at Icon International. You are about to embark on a new project, and Anna has asked to meet with you. She wants to go over the elements of a project plan to ensure you understand exactly what is expected of you.
Unit 3: Implementing the Plan 0.5 - 1 hour
• Identify the definition of a project management information system (PMIS).
• Identify characteristics of a good PMIS.
• Identify management plans used during project implementation.
• Identify the purpose of work outputs.
• Identify the benefits and disadvantages of mid-project evaluations.
• Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with Gopal Veena, Procurement Specialist at Icon International. Having worked as a project manager for a number of years before deciding to specialize in procurement, Gopal has a very good understanding of the area. You have been asked to meet with him today, to go over issues regarding the implementation of a project plan.
Unit 4: Controlling Change 0.5 - 1 hour
• Identify actions of project change control.
• Identify components used to control project change.
• Identify the purpose of a change control system.
• Identify the characteristics of a good change control system.
• Identify the role of change control boards and status meetings.
• Identify the steps of configuration management.
• Identify items used for performance, budget, and schedule control.
• Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with Anna Strzelecki, Project Manager at Icon International. You are running into problems in your current project, and Anna has offered to give you some help in controlling change.
