Course Overview

This curriculum addresses the fundamental and essential features of Microsoft Outlook as defined by the Microsoft Office Specialist certification objectives for Outlook 2003 Specialist exam
Learners completing this series should be well prepared for the certification exam and have a solid foundation in essential Outlook skills. This curriculum consists of two Skill Builder courses:

  • 75070 Microsoft Outlook 2003 Fundamentals;
  • 75071 Microsoft Outlook 2003 Proficient User.


75070 - Microsoft Outlook 2003 Fundamentals

Course Overview
This course, along with course 75071, addresses the fundamental and essential features of Microsoft Outlook as defined by the Microsoft Office Specialist certification objectives for Outlook 2003 Specialist exam. Learners completing this series should be well prepared for the certification exam and have a solid foundation in essential Outlook skills.

Learn To
• To identify options for addressing an e-mail message in the Select Names dialog box
• To send an instant message from a contact
• To identify options for responding to messages
• To identify options in the Ways to Organize pane
• To identify message field options
• To sort a message folder using the Sort dialog box




Audience
The target audience will range from new users to power users. It is expected that the vast majority of learners will have at least had some exposure to previous versions of Outlook. Fundamental PC and Windows skills are assumed.

3 to 4 hours

Unit 1: Working with Messages 1.5 - 2 hours
• Identify options for addressing an e-mail message in the Select Names dialog box
• Send an instant message from a contact
• Identify options for responding to messages
• Attach a file to a message
• Attach a file to an instant message

• Identify options for assigning signatures to accounts


Unit 2: Displaying and Managing Items 1.5 - 2 hours
• Identify options in the Ways to Organize pane
• Identify message field options • Sort a message folder using the Sort dialog box
• Identify options in the Filter dialog box
• Identify options in the Find pane
• Identify options in the Flag for Follow Up dialog box
• Identify the message formats available in Outlook
• Identify options for sending a message in the Message Options dialog box
• Identify file types for saving items
• Create a distribution list

Course Overview
This course, along with course 75070, addresses the fundamental and essential features of Outlook as defined by the Microsoft Office Specialist certification objectives for Outlook 2003 Specialist exam. Learners completing this series should be well prepared for the certification exam, and have a solid foundation in essential Outlook skills.

• To identify options in the Task window
• To identify options for responding to an assigned task
• To identify options in the Appointment window
• To identify options in the Calendar Options dialog box
• To schedule a meeting
